Josh DrescherI’m a video game developer with extensive experience as a Creative Director, Designer and Producer.  I spent my first ten years in the industry working for Mythic Entertainment (which was acquired by Electronic Arts and then rolled into their BioWare family of studios).  I was then Senior Producer and Creative Director for Rocket City Studios, a small independent studio that ran out of Huntsville, AL and St. Johns, NL (Canada).

More recently, I’ve been running the Games Research division for HCD Research, a marketing and consumer science company focused on traditional and applied consumer neuroscience research.  We use a wide array of tools including qual/quant, statistical analysis, biometrics and psychophysiology to figure out what makes great games great and not-so-great games… well… you know.

In addition to traditional design and production roles, I’ve worked closely with Marketing departments and have acted as one of the main voices and public representatives of various studio franchises and products including Second Chance Heroes, Warhammer Online, Dark Age of Camelot and the classic Ultima Online series. I’ve made regular appearances on radio and television as well as “traditional” and online media outlets.  I wrote and recorded silly video game songs with members of the classic rock band Blue Öyster Cult, which greatly impressed my dad.

I’ve spoken and presented all over the world, including E3, PAX, SDCC, Games Convention (Leipzig), Igromir (Russia) and numerous additional trade and industry shows across North America, Europe and Asia. I’ve been a guest lecturer and adviser for the Game Design departments of George Mason University and the University of Alabama Huntsville.

I graduated from Loyola University in Baltimore, MD with a BA in Political Science.
